Tell us about yourself!

Though born and raised in Honolulu, I keep finding myself moving farther away from home. In May, I received my B.A. in Print and Digital Journalism from the University of Southern California, and immediately after I moved to New York City. At least I know that home is just a vacation away.

Why’d you become a part of the BR!NK team?

I love interviewing people. You can learn so much about people just by asking them a few interesting questions. It’s also amazing hearing people open up and tell their stories.

What are your post-college plans, and what industry are you looking into?

Recent work has opened my eyes to media strategy, advertising and marketing, and those are all areas that I’d also like to be a part of.

What could we find you reading?

I love reading the features in The New Yorker and Rolling Stone. Magazine writers never fail to inspire me because the best ones can take a news story and share it from a different, fresh perspective. When you get readers to stop and think about how what you wrote is relevant to them… then you know you did something right.

How can our readers contribute to your success?

Now that I’m in New York, I’d also love to hear about job opportunities. It’d also be great to hear from readers who are working in the media industry. I have so much to learn, and I’d be so grateful to talk with someone who’s on a similar career path as I am — or even someone who’s been successful at navigating through the media scene.
